Kybella

About Kybella

What is Kybella?

Kybella is an FDA-approved injectable treatment for reducing submental fat, also known as a “double chin.” It contains a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps to break down and absorb fat. PCDC stands for “purified crystalline deoxycholic acid,” which is the active ingredient in Kybella. It works by breaking down the cell membranes of fat cells, causing them to rupture and be absorbed by the body’s natural processes.

What Are The Benefits?

  1. Non-surgical: does not require any incisions or anesthesia.
  2. Precision: The treatment is highly precise, as the injections are targeted directly at the submental fat.
  3. Minimal downtime: There is typically minimal downtime associated with Kybella treatments, with most patients able to return to their normal activities within a few days.

What Is The Process?

During the treatment, a series of small injections are made into the submental area using a very fine needle. The number of injections and the amount of Kybella used will depend on the amount of submental fat present and the desired results.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Most patients will require a series of treatments to achieve optimal results, with each treatment spaced several weeks apart. The results of Kybella treatments are generally long-lasting, with most patients experiencing a noticeable reduction in submental fat.

Is Kybella Permanent?

Yes, Kybella is a permanent treatment for submental fat (double chin). Kybella contains a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps to break down and absorb dietary fat.

Once these fat cells are destroyed and eliminated, they cannot come back. However, it is important to note that Kybella does not prevent new fat cells from forming, so maintaining a healthy diet and exercise routine is still important to avoid the development of new submental fat.
